Born in 1989, the Iranian architect and aspiring urbanist is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Architecture in Urban Design (MAUD) at the Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD). He also holds a degree in Housing Architecture from the Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST). In 2016, he co-founded the Maze Architecture and Design Studio in Tehran.

Our world has always been changing, but today's progress is less predictable. Every moment, a new idea may appear, and new horizons will emerge. What we do is summarized in the design of the uncertainty paradigm, that begins with doubt, then the question will be given, then the answers will be gained, and yet not completely convincing. There is no guarantee that today's work which is a sign of designer wisdom, not to be blamed tomorrow. The result of this uncertainty is worried investors and skeptical academic achievements, deriving from frenzied specialization, which will not go beyond labs, workshops and fancy maquettes.
The circle of what is known will always be smaller than the unknown. Ignorance is a feature of designers and architects.
In my opinion, architecture is a trace of what we know and what we do not know on space. When the balance between the two changes, space will shape in another way.
The ignorant designer, immersed in the uncertainty paradigm, prefers logic to philosophy. A protocol of statements and the cause-effect relationships which are based on the current situation that justifies the plan in the minds of critics. The viewer may have different philosophical interests, but the validity of the statement is acceptable to all.
The layer of functions in architecture and industrial design, unlike other arts, has drawn attention to programmatic logic in these two fields. The formation of a variety of diagrammatic design processes, from the Koolhaas information to the Eisenman deformation, confirms this view.
I believe every architectural product has unique DNA like any other creature. Even if the fertilization (design process) is always performed in the same way, the end product is different each time and has unique characteristics. If a newborn takes characters from his or her parents, environment, and current course of evolution, an architectural project gains its features from its creator, environment, and future predictions (subjective and objective parameters)
MOJTABA NABAVI
Architect and graphic designer Graduated in B.Arch. and M.Arch. from Iran University of Science & Technology. He was among undergraduate and postgraduate exceptional talents fully funded for all education degrees from Iran Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. His thesis about Bakhtiari nomad’s habitation with his participating in a migration process and living with the clan for six months certificated as the elected thesis in M.Arch.2015.
He has been working in the fields of architectural research and design, and graphic design since 2009. From 2009 to 2018 he has been involved in professional projects and architectural competitions as a member or the head of design teams. Participating in more than 30 national and international architecture competitions and winning various titles by 2018, are among his professional honors. He co-founded Maze Architecture and Design Studio (maze-co.com) in 2017, with Zeinab Maghdouri.
